For those whose wallets can stretch, we’ve compiled a list of things you can do to save pennies at the pump.

GetUpside app: While there are plenty of apps that tell you where to get the cheapest gas prices, GetUpside can help you save up to 25 cents per gallon. How you can save up to this amount: Take a picture of your receipt in the app to get the savings. Without a photo, you can save using the feature called “saving”.

GasBack by GasBuddy: We’ve heard how Gas Buddy can help you find the lowest gas prices in your area. The company also offers this program called “GasBack”, which means that you can earn free money for gas on your daily purchases. You can register by downloading the app.

Loyalty programs: Stores like Sam’s Club and Walmart offer members discounted prices at the pump. For example, Walmart+ members can get 5 cents back.

For Texans, HEB offers free “Points Club Rewards” membership where you earn points for every dollar spent. In turn, you can use those points at the pump to get a little discount on gas.

Some service stations, such as Shell, also offer “fuel rewards” loyalty programs. With “gold status” you can save at least 5 cents per gallon every time you fill up. New members will get free “gold status” for six months, then must purchase at least five gallons of gas six times during qualifying periods. Click here to find out more.

7-Eleven also has a program that will give you an 11 cents per gallon discount for the first seven fill-ups on all grades of fuel.

Pay in cash: It’s always worth asking if a petrol station offers cheaper petrol if you pay cash. If they do, you could possibly save up to 5-10 cents per gallon.

Get Cash Back Credit Cards: If you don’t have cash, try using a “cash back” credit card where you get a percentage back for every dollar spent. Here are some examples of the amount you can recover:

Buy gasoline on certain days: Another way to save at the pump is to fill up on some days and skip the pumps on others. In Texas, the cheapest day to fill up is Sunday while the most expensive day is Thursday, according to experts.
