Online gaming sites run by the Stars group were down all weekend. That’s according to users’ posts on Twitter, leading the company to apologize citing an “unscheduled maintenance issue” as the cause.
It remains unclear when real money applications would be back online. A statement from a Stars Group spokesperson to Casino.org said the issue was not related to any security or data breach and that the company’s technical staff are working to get these sites up and running as quickly as possible.
Customers across all verticals (FOXBet Sportsbook, PokerStars and Stars Casino) can still manage their accounts,” the statement read. “We do not anticipate any impact to customer account balances. We thank customers for their patience and apologize for the inconvenience.
Users began posting messages on social media Friday morning (ET) saying they were unable to access the sites. PokerStars responded on Twitter that the Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania tournaments have been canceled until 10 a.m. ET on Monday.
FOXBet is available in these states as well as Colorado.
Stars Group is part of Flutter Entertainment. Other Flutter brands, including FanDuel and TVG, are not affected by the issue. FOXBet’s free app was also operational on Sunday afternoon.
Stars Group Applications in Mid-Range Michigan
Not all states break down revenue or break down numbers by carrier, but based on Michigan and Pennsylvania totals, the Stars Group brand ranks in the middle of the pack in both states.
In Michigan, the Stars Group is the online gaming partner of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
In 2021, FOXBet brought in a handful of $56.3 million, according to data from the Michigan Gaming Control Board. It was the seventh best of the 14 licensed operators. In total, the operators brought in a combined handful of $3.66 billion for the year.
While FOXBet’s handful was more than $100 million lower than the sixth-highest sportsbook app in the state, it fared better in terms of adjusted gaming revenue (AGR). His AGR of $1.7 million was the fifth highest statewide.
Statewide, sports betting brought in a combined AGR of $110.6 million. Only eight of Michigan’s 14 licensed sports betting apps produced a positive AGR last year.
In iGaming, Stars Casino and PokerStars combined to generate an AGR of $36.8 million. This ranked eighth out of 14 operators, which combined to bring in $1 billion in AGR.
First poker site in Pennsylvania
In Pennsylvania, the Stars Group brands are partners of the Mount Airy Casino Resort. In the first six months of the 2021-22 fiscal year, FOXBet’s $85.8 million handful ranks sixth among the state’s 13 mobile sportsbook operators. His taxable income of $4 million was seventh best among operators.
The state’s mobile apps brought in a handful of $3.23 billion and revenue of $142.5 million for the first half of the fiscal year.
PokerStars is Pennsylvania’s largest online poker operator. It brought in $11.5 million of the $17.4 million in revenue the state’s online apps earned from rakes and tournament fees for the first half of the year.
Stars Casino reported gross revenue of $12.8 million from online slots and $7.6 million from bank table games for the first half of fiscal 21-22. The gross revenue figures ranked fifth and fourth respectively out of the nine iGaming operators.
