With over a billion active users, Facebook is undoubtedly the most popular social media platform in the world. Despite its popularity, Facebook’s image has been tarnished over the years as it has become mired in controversies over unethical practices in handling user data. For many users, these privacy issues are enough to give up using Facebook. But for Android users, deleting the Facebook app from their smartphone is not a real option. Facebook is a system app on most Android devices, which means it cannot be uninstalled. At best, you can disable the app and it will be removed from the app drawer. Disable Facebook Using Package Disabler Apps
Apps like Package Disabler Pro excel at removing all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on your smartphone. With one click, you can remove all apps from the Facebook package, which includes Facebook, Facebook Lite, Messenger, and Messenger Lite. Package Disabler Pro costs Rs 130 on the Play Store, but it’s a quick way to remove an entire app package at once. It also provides parental controls for your device.
Disable Facebook Package Apps Using ADB
If you don’t want to pay for a package disabler app, you can achieve the same result using ADB. Admittedly, ADB can be complex to use, but it removes all package apps at once without having to root your phone. First, you will need to install ADB on your computer. Next, you need to install your smartphone drivers on your PC. You can search for your smartphone drivers online and download them to your PC. Once the drivers and ADB are installed on your PC, connect your smartphone using a USB cable. After that, install App Inspector on your smartphone and select the Facebook app. Find the name of the Facebook package and write it down on a piece of paper. Once you’ve done that, enable USB debugging on your PC and enter the following command in the command prompt, replacing ** at the end with the package name you noted.
uninstall adb shell pm -k –user 0 **
Once the Facebook package is deactivated, you will see a “Success” message on the screen.
