Over the past year, search ads from tech giant Apple have become an increasingly popular business. You’ll be amazed to learn how so many big companies have set aside giant budgets that ensure the right spending takes place on the App Store.
And then we had WhatsApp’s app tracking transparency, which really helped a lot.
But how many top iOS apps actually use search ads? Well, a new App Intelligence study by A F used state-of-the-art suite tools to find the answer. And according to this analysis, the results are surprising.
To make it short and sweet, the answer is a lot! The top 100 earning apps have been analyzed in each topic on the App Store. They were then ranked by the number of apps they were running through Search Ads.
And that’s when they discovered that 61% of the top iOS apps were showing Apple’s search ads, wow!
As for the categories, well, education is where people seem to invest the most. Nearly 70% of those who earned the most income were related to this niche. It couldn’t have made more sense than that, given the timing of the moment.
Don’t forget that it’s back to school and such apps are in high demand.
But after that niche comes the world of health and fitness. You’d be amazed at how many people are ready to get back on track and are turning to apps to do just that.
Other frequently asked categories include business, music, graphics, design, gaming, and even browsing. But what exactly do these statistics mean? Does this imply that apps are using Apple’s search ads if they want to make money on the App Store? You might be wondering if these top apps are using the money they generate to get search ads.
Well, the answer is that both of these scenarios take place. Some of the apps continue to be in demand thanks to the company’s search ads. Meanwhile, many famous apps continue to use ads in order to compete with other rivals in the industry.
This definitely defines the true purpose of these ads. It’s much better when they are also in the search results.
For quite some time now, we’ve seen the leading iPhone maker have a leg up on all other ad networks, thanks to these ad placements. They managed to serve their target audience perfectly.
And since advertisers don’t end up getting access to many of its features, well, we know the company has plenty of hidden tricks up its sleeve that it fails to publicly show. But we hope to see them pop up in the near future.
The reason for this behavior could be simple. This has to do with ad placements not requiring user interactions. They are magical in every way.
There is even a massive debate circulating whether Apple’s rule of preventing third parties from targeting users was fair or not. So it’s a sticky mess.
