The Department of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs encourages consumers to download its Price Catcher app, which allows users to view prices for specific items from various locations and make comparisons.

For example, consumers can check the price of 1 kg of chicken thighs and see how they are charged at different places, such as grocery stores, supermarkets and more.
Prices will be displayed from lowest to highest. Consumers will get information based on their own location data.
The app also allows users to see the prices of goods from various e-commerce stores, although the choices are limited to just three platforms.
According to the ministry in a Facebook post on June 27, information on the app is updated daily by its price monitors based on checks at various locations.

Price Catcher is free to download from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Hargapedia is another price checker app that consumers can consider.
They can check the prices of items based on specific brands – from online platforms like Shopee to supermarkets like Jaya Grocer, Giant and Lotus.
The app will display dates to provide price validity.
Information will also be filtered based on data provided by users such as location, age and income level.
The app can also direct consumers to the online platform so purchases can be made from the site or point of sale.
However, the app does not indicate if an item is sold out. Therefore, consumers will only know once they have been directed to the merchant site.
Full price lists are also only available to users who register on the app.
