Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro apps won’t load or updates are stuck pending

It seems Android 12 likes to stay in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Since its release alongside the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the number of bugs and glitches has left users angry and frustrated.

And things don’t seem to be getting any better after the December 12 Android update. Besides the connectivity issues plaguing users, many are now reporting (1,2,3, 4,5) that they cannot update their applications.

People say the problem prevents them from using apps that require the latest version to run, like some games. It seems that this issue also appeared after the infamous December update.

User reports suggest that tapping the ‘Update All’ button changes the status of apps to be updated to ‘Pending’, but it seems they get stuck that way for hours. . Some say they have tried updating apps one by one, but it also doesn’t work.

Also, it seems that some apps on Play Store are not loading at all. They say they tried to update the Wi-Fi and cellular networks, but the problem seems to persist on both networks.

I’m just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the playstore? So far, when I search for an app and select it from the list, the Play Store shows a “Retry” screen with a small satellite image. Pressing retry again brings up the app instantly, but it happens every time I search for an app. The 2nd thing is when I go to buy an app / in-app purchase. When I do this, the “Accept and Review” pop-up appears, but when I press Accept and make another purchase later, it comes back. I have tried clearing the Play Store cache and storage, even resetting to factory settings, but so far none of these have helped.

Hello. I’m having a problem with my new Pixel 6. After setup is complete, I can’t load the system update it asks for. The download locks in pause. Every time I hit resume it instantly pauses again. Also, I can’t load apps from the Play Store. All are locked on “pending”. I left the phone in this state for hours but nothing changes. Internet is connected. Chrome browser works fine, YouTube videos load perfectly. I have reset factory settings several times. I also reset from the recovery mode screen. I also tried clearing the cache of the Play Store app.

Unfortunately, generic resolutions like clearing cache and data from the Play Store and even resetting to factory settings don’t make a difference.

Fortunately, Google appears to be aware of the issue and said it has shared it with its product and engineering team. However, there is no ETA on when this will be fixed.

Thanks for reporting this issue. We have shared this with our product and engineering team and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

It turns out that another problem haunts several Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL with a group of users saying they cannot use Google apps. It seems that the problem appeared after updating to Android 12.

I recently started using my Pixel 3 again after a 2.5 year hiatus. My software would have been the most up to date for June / August 2019 before I downloaded Android 12. I downloaded the update last night and since then have had various issues with my Google account, often inconsistently. Throughout last night most of my apps, Google and not Google, would be stuck loading, some like Chrome crashing moments after tapping on the app. This morning all the non-google-based apps I tried are now working, and I was able to go to the play store and update all the apps, which I was completely unable to do last night.

They also said that the phone cannot connect to any Google accounts.

One issue that persists is that if I try to manage my Google Account from any app or settings screen, I end up with an endless loading screen. Sometimes, but not always, Google-based apps will say I have to be online to sign in. I tried this using my phone network and WiFi, with no results. In the case of YouTube, if I can bring up the account selection menu, I am faced with an endless loading screen as if the app cannot find my account. (Source)

Another user said he had the same problem, but nothing except Reddit was working on his device.

After updating to Android 12 my device completely stopped working. I am unable to load all apps except Reddit. All apps hang before crashing or run for 30 seconds before crash. The Google Play Store will not load properly asking that I authenticate before never loading and will not take any app updates. I am also not able to access or update google accounts anymore, they also load forever.

But since the tech giant has yet to say anything about it, it’s unclear if and when users will once again be able to use Google apps or manage their Google accounts.

Nonetheless, we’ll be keeping an eye out for further updates and notify each other once these bugs are fixed, so stay tuned.
