The Google Chrome team has long been researching web technologies that provide users with a unique experience.
It would not be wrong to say that any experience similar to the service provided by a particular platform is always appreciated.
This is one of the main reasons why Google has always supported browser features related to this particular aspect. But the latest development from the Google Chrome team is related to the launch of the Advanced Web Apps Fund.
Although the tech giant failed to give a precise definition of what it actually means when talking about advanced applications, it did mention how it likes to reserve the term for a website with designs and app-like features.
Google has developed Chrome’s great perks like WebTransport and WebAssembly, not to mention everyone’s favorite Adobe Photoshop as prime examples. But what exactly is Google looking for?
Well, for starters, Google seems to be looking for innovative features, maybe something like WebSQL that could replace WebAssembly. Likewise, it hopes to include both libraries and other gadgets that simplify the process of building apps.
In particular, applications like Bubblewrap and a number of drivers that support WebUSB are worth considering. Other apps that serve as demos or even tutorials related to the best web apps are also welcome.
Google says it’s important to remember that the Chrome team really put a lot of effort into designing features. However, they can only be held responsible for a small part of the work in progress.
And this is related to the fact that app developers rely heavily on a number of other people from the community. They have bolstered the ecosystem with APIs and a number of other designated products.
We saw in 2013 how keen Google was to build powerful web tools through its packaged apps. This came with a number of renowned features such as CSS, JavaScript or the good old HTML5.
They were popular with many, including those from the education sector or even developers. And then in 2016, tech experts claim that was the time when the tech giant was sure their browsers were doing a great job of resolving queries and improving user experiences.
As for the requirements for this new fund, the company says you only need an Open Collective, which is an account through which you can apply. Plus, it will also give you the advantage of nominating others along the way who are willing to accept changes to the funding code. Only then can you expect the sponsorship to gain approval.
