Here are five more apps to help you work smarter, not harder, in college.
Let’s face it, college can be pretty hard to keep up with. There are after-school assignments and programs to follow; meetings, classes and deadlines can become a whirlwind of chaos if left unchecked. Being a student is a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be stressful.
Previously, we have compiled a list of essential IOS apps to help you organize and enjoy your college life. To our beloved Android readers, of course, we’re also thinking of you! We have selected for you an assortment of complete applications to make your next semester easier and more manageable:
1. School Planner (Android)
The average student has a hundred things to follow at all times. Worry no more, School Planner is here to help by helping you organize your schedules, to-do lists, due dates, attendance and more.
This application is a one-stop solution for most organizational needs. Students can manually enter tasks, events, extracurricular activities, etc., and sort them by priority. You can also save your instructors contact details and track your grades and daily attendance for each subject/course. Plus, you don’t have to worry about losing your data if something were to happen to your phone: everything is backed up to Google Drive and you can sync your data across all devices.
As well as being versatile, your versatile digital secretary is also aesthetically pleasing to look at and use. It comes with the ability to color code each subject to make its schedule easy to read at a glance.
2. Moneyfy (IOS and Android)
Living on your own income with the tedious task of managing your own finances. Budgeting apps can help you manage your money effectively by keeping track of your income and expenses. Monefy provides the user with a clean and easy-to-use interface with visual icons for different categories, such as groceries, transportation, entertainment, dining out, toiletries, pets, and more.
You simply record how much you spend on each category or item, and the app will present your monthly expenses and income in a pie chart. With this feature, you can view your spending habits and adjust your budget for each category accordingly. 3. Google Play Books (IOS and Android)
Physical books may be the norm, but they can also be heavy and expensive. With Google Play Books, you can carry an entire library in your pocket.
Apart from purchasing and downloading e-books available on the app, you can also download PDF and EPUB (an e-book file format) from it with just a few clicks. For IOS users, first you need to open the PDF in the Files folder and click “Open with the Play Books app”. For Android users, you can directly upload documents to the app. All e-books and files can be grouped and placed on different shelves.
There are many ways for you to annotate files and books on the app. Apart from highlighting and note taking, it also comes with a translator and a dictionary, or you can also search for words or phrases on the web. All annotations for individual books can be stored in Google Drive folders, making it easy to take notes and prepare for assignments and exams.
4. Canva (Web, IOS and Android)
College can present a whirlwind of presentations, posters, portfolios, etc., and it can be quite a daunting prospect if you don’t have the time or skills to deal with PowerPoint and Photoshop. That’s why you need a simpler and less time-consuming solution. Introducing Canva, a free online tool for creating and designing digital content.
Whether you’re working on group projects, brainstorming cards, flyers, and presentations or creating a resume, weekly/monthly planner, to-do list, or daily schedule, Canva has a great collection of templates to easily create a presentable chart on a lack of time. You can use the templates directly or add personal touches by incorporating design elements you like. You can also edit photos and videos in the app.
Even better, you can share the designs with your fellow bandmates so you can all edit the file together on the app. The software has a mobile version and an online version which can be synced across all devices.
5. CliffsNotes (Web, IOS and Android)
Have you ever complained that you procrastinated in your reading and started too late to prepare for an important test or assignment? We have all been there. CliffsNotes offers hundreds of literature summaries curated by professors and teachers featuring plot points, character descriptions, themes, and more. plus free study guides for a variety of other subjects, like accounting, sociology, algebra, and biology.
